8 Days from Fez to Marrakech via the desert of Merzouga and Chegaga

Departure from your accommodation in Fez towards the Merzouga desert. Promising a day rich in discoveries and varied landscapes. We will first cross the charming town of Ifrane, often nicknamed “Moroccan Switzerland”. Then we will stop at Azrou where you can observe the monkeys in their natural habitat.

Then we will continue our journey to Midelt, where we will take a break for lunch and regain strength. In the afternoon, we will cross the spectacular Ziz valley towards Errachidia and Erfoud. With a planned visit to the Fossil Museum to discover the fascinating geological history of the region.

At the end of the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga. Where a unique experience awaits you: a camel ride to reach the bivouac in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will have the opportunity to admire the magnificent sunset over the dunes. Then spend an unforgettable evening around the campfire, under the desert stars. Dinner will be served in a friendly and authentic atmosphere, before spending a restful night in Berber tents, soaking up the magic of the desert.

The day will begin with the enchanting spectacle of the sunrise above the golden dunes of the desert. After being amazed by this magical moment, you will have a hearty breakfast to start the day off right.

Then, you will return to the village on camel back to find our vehicle, ready to continue our exploration. We will visit the village of Gnaouas, soaking up its culture and fascinating history. Next, we will head to Sarji Lake, a peaceful haven in the middle of the desert, where you can relax and admire the natural beauty of the surroundings.

We will continue our journey to the Mifis Mines, discovering the history and mining activity of the region. You will also have the unique opportunity to share an authentic moment with local nomads, sharing tea in their tents and exchanging stories and traditions.

After lunch, we will return to Merzouga for another camel adventure to your bivouac in the dunes. You will have the privilege of enjoying another magnificent sunset over the desert. Followed by a memorable evening to the sound of Berber music around the campfire. Dinner will be served in a warm and friendly atmosphere, before spending a restful night under the stars, lulled by the tranquility of the desert.

After enjoying your breakfast at the bivouac. You will return to Merzouga on camelback, allowing you to enjoy the splendid desert landscapes one last time. Next, we will set sail for Rissani, an iconic city known for its rich history and culture. There you will have the opportunity to visit the mausoleum of Molay Ali Chrif Alaoui, a fascinating historical site.

After visiting Rissani, we will continue our journey towards Nkob. Where we will have lunch in a kasbah, giving you an authentic culinary experience in a traditional setting. In the afternoon, we will take the road towards Zagora, crossing the magnificent villages of the Draa valley. Renowned for its natural beauty and cultural richness.

At the end of the day, we will arrive in Zagora, where you will spend the night in a luxury bivouac. You will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. While enjoying a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients. This night under the desert stars promises to be a memorable experience. Giving you an authentic insight into life in the Moroccan desert.

After enjoying your breakfast at the bivouac, we will head towards the desert village of M’hamid El Ghazlane. An important step before reaching the majestic sand dunes of Chegaga. You will have the opportunity to experience daily life in this isolated village and learn about the local culture.

Next, we will head to the impressive Chegaga Dunes, where you will enjoy a camel ride through the vast expanses of golden sand. You will also have the chance to admire a magnificent sunset over the dunes, offering spectacular colors that illuminate the desert landscape.

The evening will continue with a delicious dinner prepared in the enchanting setting of the bivouac, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the desert. A night under the stars in the bivouac in the heart of the Chegaga dunes promises to be a magical and unforgettable experience, allowing you to completely immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of the Moroccan desert.

After having lunch at the bivouac, we will enjoy a camel ride to further explore the magnificent sand dunes and admire the spectacular landscapes of the Sahara. Then we will leave the desert towards the coastal city of Agadir.

During our journey, we will pass through Lake Iriki, offering picturesque views of its calm waters and desert surroundings. We will also make a stop at the Berber village of Taznakht, renowned for its handcrafted Berber carpets, where you can learn about local crafts and perhaps acquire some unique souvenirs.

Next, we will travel to the village of Taliouine, famous for its saffron cultivation, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about this precious spice and explore the local market.

After lunch, we will continue our journey to Taroudant, nicknamed “little Marrakech” for its impressive ramparts and its authentic atmosphere. Finally, we will arrive in Agadir, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel and enjoy a delicious dinner to end this busy day.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Agadir, we will start our day with a visit to the famous Agadir beach, renowned for its golden sand and crystal clear waters. You will have the opportunity to relax on the beach, take a stroll along the seafront or even do some optional water activities.

Then we will continue our journey towards the picturesque town of Essaouira. Along the way, we will make a stop at Taghazout beach to enjoy its spectacular landscapes and relaxed atmosphere. We will then continue to Sidi Kaouki, a charming coastal village renowned for its magnificent beaches and panoramic views.

After enjoying a tasty lunch at a local restaurant in Sidi Kaouki, you will have the opportunity to stroll along the beach and soak up the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Finally, we will arrive in Essaouira, where you will spend the evening in a beautiful traditional riad. You will have free time to explore the city, stroll through its picturesque streets and admire its unique architecture. Dinner will be served in a friendly and authentic atmosphere, allowing you to taste the delights of local cuisine. Then, you will spend the night in the comfort of your riad, ready to discover more of the charms of Essaouira the next day.

After enjoying your breakfast in the riad in Essaouira, you will have the opportunity to explore the captivating charm of the city’s medina. You can stroll through its winding streets, discover its local craft shops offering unique products such as rugs, jewelry and carved wooden objects. Be sure to visit the port of Skala, where you can watch fishermen in action and admire the historic ramparts which offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Then, we will take the road towards Marrakech. Along the way, we’ll stop to visit an argan oil cooperative, where you can learn about the process of making argan oil and its many health and beauty benefits.

Once in Marrakech, we will drop you off at your hotel where you can settle in and relax. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant, before spending a restful night at the hotel, preparing you to continue your adventures in Morocco the next day.
